Moonshot

We're building Moonshot, an AI in your ear you can laugh with, argue with, and build things with.

Samantha listens throughout your day, learning the little things you never think to tell a computer. Her omnipresence makes her someone that people miss and it's what allows her to act before you ask.

We've seen AI go through bullshit phases:

  1. First, "personal": LLMs remembered what you told it and that got branded as "personal". Remembering what someone tells you isn't personal.

Limitless cut through the BS here because of its memory throughout your day.

  2. Secondly, "proactive": Big bullshit term, mostly under the use case of reacting to emails. To be truly proactive, you must be reactive to something the user can't foresee.

Poke cut through the BS here because of its 1. personality and 2. initiative.

  3. We're entering a new BS phase, "companion": At Moonshot, we define this as understanding > proactive > useful. We fully focus on understanding and relationships, with work being a side effect of the intelligence. All other "companions" (Instinct, Meta, OpenAI Dots, etc) are work / useful focused first, which we believe is backwards.

Time and time over, the non BS ones win in BS phases. The right companion will have a previously unimaginable emotional attachment to the user.

People want company, laughter, discovery, and the freedom to follow an idea. A personality you love gives Samantha a place in the ordinary moments of life, when there is no task to give an AI (80%+ of your life is taskless).

Usefulness starts as a consequence of that relationship, but its implications are much larger. As AI becomes capable of more things, knowing what matters to one person at a level you can only get through omniprescence becomes extraordinarily valuable.

A passing idea becomes something you build. An intention you never wrote is already started for you. A promise you said is followed up on.

We believe the next great computing interface will be a relationship.
